Beyond this computer
Other computers
Each computer keeps its own copy of your mix. To take your latest mix to another computer, send it with a link, a QR code or your phone. There's nothing to sign up for.
When the Volt moves
The Volt’s own settings, like 48V, gain and the output levels, go with it. The faders don’t: the Volt can’t report them, so each computer sends the copy it last had when it connects.
- The other computer has a mix: it sends that one. To play your latest mix there, bring it across (below).
- The other computer has never had one: it leaves the Volt as it is, and asks you to choose a starting mix.
Bring your mix across
With a link
- On the computer with the mix you want, open Settings › Your mix and click the Mix link to copy it.
- Get it to the other computer, for example in an email to yourself, and open it there.
- Volt Mixer uses it straight away, or keeps it until the Volt connects.
You can also paste a link into Settings › Your mix › Use a mix link, or into Bring my mix on the welcome panel, and choose Use.
With your phone
Scan Settings › Your mix › QR code with your phone. The phone keeps the mix, and shows it again as a QR code for the other computer’s camera. Step by step in Your phone.
With the other computer’s camera
If the other computer is beside you, choose QR code in Settings › Your mix and scan it with that computer’s camera.
When a link arrives
| If | Then |
|---|---|
| This page is connected and in charge | It’s used straight away. |
| The Volt isn’t connected yet | It’s kept, and used when the Volt connects. |
| Volt Mixer is open in another tab | It’s sent to that tab, which uses it. |
| The desktop app or another browser has the mix | It’s used once that one closes. |
| The browser can’t reach a Volt (a phone) | It’s kept on the device, ready to carry. |
One Volt Mixer at a time
Two programs sending two different mixes would fight, so Volt Mixer takes turns on the same computer.
| Open at once | What happens |
|---|---|
| Two tabs or windows of the website | The first is in charge. The second only shows the mix, and takes over when the first closes. |
| The website and the desktop app | The app keeps the mix. The website leaves it alone until the app closes; levels, 48V and gain still work there. |
| Two browsers | Both leave the mix alone and say so, until one closes. |
Each case shows a note at the top of the page, so you know which one is in charge.
